Throughout the years, G&N has performed many different types of repairs on various piston engines. These repairs range from propeller-strike/sudden stoppage inspections, engines that are making metal, and even occasional catastrophic failures.
The most common of these repairs are the prop-strike/sudden stoppage inspections. The engine is first disassembled and put on its' own three or four tiered cart. Each part of the engine has its own place on the cart. Once it has been disassembled the engine is cleaned in our spray booths. The booth, in simple terms, is a high pressure spray of baking soda and water. From there, each piece of the engine is inspected individually. Once the engine has been inspected it will be put on an internal hold until the customer has been notified with a complete repair estimate. The customer is also given the opportunity to do a major overhaul on the engine.
For those engines that are part of an insurance claim, G&N will be happy to identify the parts that we feel are related to the strike or stoppage. It will be the customers' responsibility to provide this information to the insurance company. G&N will be happy to discuss any damage or questions that the insurance agent has, but we will not discuss any prices with the insurance company. In return for the confidentiality on pricing and to keep our repair rates reasonable, G&N does require prompt payment upon completion of the repair.
For any other repairs, G&N will follow the same process unless otherwise instructed by the customer.
